Costa Rica will embrace you with its beauty in fauna and flora. We introduce you the country’s jungles, volcanoes, and beaches. You can take the opportunity to learn about ecotourism, work with locals in their communities on service learning projects and enjoy helping in natural reserves.

Day 1: Depart USA / Arrive San José, Costa Rica

  • Meet your Tour Director on arrival
  • Time permitting, enjoy a sightseeing tour through the capital of Costa Rica
  • Welcome dinner at a local restaurant

Day 2: Poas Volcano / La Paz Waterfall Gardens / Arenal Region

  • Depart for the beautiful area surrounding the Arenal Volcano
  • Visit Poas Volcano, explore segments of the park with a light hike and peer into an impressive crater steaming with fumaroles
  • Learn all about coffee production at a local coffee estate
  • Stop at the La Paz Waterfall Gardens, enjoy colorful flowers and beautiful birds
  • Visit a hummingbird garden, serpentarium, bird house, butterfly garden and frog exhibit

Day 3: Service Learning

  • Visit a rural community and their school
  • Participate different activities to share and learn from each other
  • Learn traditional games of Costa Rica and enjoy Lunch prepared by our hosts
  • Visit Baldi Hot Springs Resort: swimming pools, slides and a relaxing afternoon

Day 4: Juanilama Community Visit

  • Spend the day at the small traditional rural community of Juanilama
  • Interact with the local community members while helping them with different daily tasks
  • Experience the local lifestyle, participating in cultural activities and village traditions

Day 5: Arenal Region / Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve

  • Sustainability tour of our lodge, Rancho Margot, learn about this unique self-sufficient eco-lodge.
  • Travel to the Monteverde Cloud Forest Area

Day 6: Volunteering at Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve

  • Full day of volunteering in coordination with the Reserve
  • Participate in efforts to conserve one of the most important natural areas of the world
  • Explore the reserve on a guided nature hike

Day 7: Volunteering at Santa Elena Reserve

  • Help with different tasks according to the needs of the Santa Elena Reserve and a local community school

Day 8: Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve / Jaco Beach

  • Travel to the Central Pacific Coast.
  • Enjoy a boat tour on the Tarcoles River; see different types of birds, mammals and some of the most impressive crocodiles
  • Continue to Jaco Beach and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure

Day 9: Jaco Beach / Zipline Tour

  • Boost your adrenaline with a rainforest canopy tour; enjoy nature without harming the environment
  • Have the opportunity to view scarlet macaws, chestnut mandible toucans and white-face monkeys
  • Descend to the bottom via a series of zip lines, including 14 platforms and 12 cables with a total cable distance of 3.5 kilometers, including the longest cable in the area
  • Return to Jaco Beach for an afternoon at leisure to enjoy

Day 10: Jaco Beach / Home

  • Transfer to the airport for return flights home
