Day 1: Home to Mexico City (B)

Arrive at Mexico City Airport – Tlatlahuitepec, a small town in the state of Puebla. Upon arrival your guide will pick you up and transport you to the village of Tlatlahuitepec, a charming spot in the heart of the mountains of Puebla.

The rest of the day is at your leisure until our welcome dinner.

Overnight in Tlatlahuitepec.

Day 2: Tlatlahuitepec (B,L,D)

After breakfast, we will visit the San Gabriel ranch, where they encourage the reforestation of the mountains and have the longest zipline circuit in this region of Mexico.

Later, we will enjoy a delicious traditional meal made by a cooperative of indigenous women as we sit side by side and exchange our cultures through open dialogue, song and perhaps dance.

Later that afternoon, we will take a walk through the quiet Mexican village, in order to observe their everyday life and enjoy dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 3:Tlatlahuitepec/Cuetzalan (B,L,D)

After breakfast, we will travel to the magical town of Cuetzalan, in the highlands of Puebla. A rural, very charming corner of Mexico, where we will hike to discover a beautiful waterfall. In the afternoon we’ll visit the cobbled streets to enjoy the scenery offered by this wonderful spot.

Day 4: Cuetzalan/Zozocolco de Hidalgo/Papantla (B/L/D]

This morning, we’ll move to the Totonac town of Zozocolco de Hidalgo, a Totonac indigenous town, to visit its imposing XVII century church that has a panoramic view of the mountains. We will enjoy a walk through its streets to visit a craft workshop and after enjoying a homemade meal, we will move to the town of Papantla, capital of the Totonac region of Veracruz.

Day 5: Papantla/Costa Esmeralda (B,L,D)

Today is one of the major highlights of our trip, this morning we will visit the archaeological site of Tajin in order to enjoy the Papantla Flyers ritual, where men become eagles and visit the flying children’s school. We will then move to the Totonal cooperative in order to enjoy a light walk through their ancient tree reserve. We will then enjoy a meal at the indigenous cooperative.

Tonight we will rest at a hotel located on the tranquil seaside of Costa Esmeralda.

Day 6: Costa Esmerelda/ (B,L,D)

After a relaxing breakfast on the seaside, we will go on an adventure! We will go rafting (ClassII-III) while enjoying the great scenery of the Filobobos River Bank.

In the afternoon we are off to enjoy the beach.

Overnight Costa Esmerelda.

Day 7: Costa Esmerelda/Coatapec (B,L,D)

At dawn we will go to the sea turtle camp to witness the wonderful event of their release. We will learn about the process that turtles go through and later, we will have a good breakfast. After that, we will have the chance to enjoy a boat ride through the mangroves of this region.

We will then head to Villarica’s beach to have lunch, and during our journey, we will stop at a Totonac cementery nestled on top of a small mountain. This spot has an amazing view of the coast and was key in the history of the conquest of Mexico.

Overnight stay in Coatepec, one of the most important coffee regions in Mexico.

Day 8: Coatepec/Mexico City (B,L,D)

After breakfast, we will visit a coffee plantation to learn about the process of coffee elaboration and of course grab a cup. We then head to the vanilla plantations to get to know more about this delicious type of orchid.

Lunch and dinner, we’ll have traditional meals in restaurants downtown before we transfer to Mexico City.

Overnight at a hotel close to the airport.

Day 9: Mexico City/Home (B)

Today after breakfast you will head back home  and transfer to the airport and off you go.
